NAMI is a premium streaming service founded in Windhoek, Namibia, and built by Amateta Technology & Graphics CC for audiences across Africa.
Why we built it
Africa does not have a shortage of stories. It has a shortage of shelves. A film made in Katutura or Otjiwarongo can be finished, colour-graded and ready — and still have nowhere to go but a festival circuit and a hard drive.
The global services that do reach this continent were designed somewhere else. Their pricing assumes a card that many people do not hold. Their bitrate ladders assume bandwidth that many people do not have. Their commissioning assumes an audience they measure from far away.
NAMI is the other approach. One membership, one price in the currency you are paid in, and a catalogue where a Namibian feature sits beside an international one without apology or a separate tab.
We are a technology company that decided the missing piece was infrastructure, so we built the infrastructure.
How we got here
The idea
Amateta Technology & Graphics CC had been building software and visual work in Windhoek for years, and kept meeting the same problem: Namibian film-makers finished good work and had nowhere to put it that anyone at home could reach.
Building NAMI
Rather than licence somebody else's platform and inherit somebody else's assumptions, we built the thing: our own catalogue, our own transcoding pipeline, our own player, our own billing — designed from the first line for African bandwidth, African payments and African rights windows.
Namibia first
NAMI launches at home, in Namibian dollars, with a catalogue that leads with Namibian work. Getting it right in one market beats getting it approximately right in ten.
Then the continent
The platform is multi-market by construction — per-country pricing, per-territory licensing, multiple currencies and gateways — so expansion is a commercial decision rather than a rebuild.

NAMI is owned and operated by Amateta Technology & Graphics CC, a close corporation registered in the Republic of Namibia and based in Windhoek. We build software and visual work, and NAMI is the largest thing we have made. Questions about the company, partnerships or press are all welcome.
